The bowling green is part of Matlock Golf Club and, therefore, the golf club's dress code applies to anyone using the green. In particular:

Smart attire must be worn

No blue denim jeans are permitted

No tracksuit tops or bottoms are permitted

Men must not wear tee shirts, or other collarless, sleeveless or emblazoned shirts. Mock turtle branded golf/bowls shirts are permitted. Shirts must be tucked into trousers or shorts.

No caps may be worn in the clubhouse, and no caps may be worn reversed anywhere within the clubhouse or on the green.

Only smart knee-length tailored shorts may be worn (this does not include beach, soccer, athletic or other sports shorts), together with long socks or white sports socks.

Mobile phones must not be used in the clubhouse or on the green except in cases of extreme emergency.

In addition, and most importantly,

Flat shoes only may be worn on the green.
